Charter for Storms of Vengeance
A Guild on Lucan DLere
1. General outline:
What we are...
We are a group of people that play together to have fun and foster a strong sense of community within Norrath. We operate as a family of friends who help each other when and where we can to contribute to our overall enjoyment of the world. You must be a good, fun, helpful person that we enjoy playing with.
Being a member of Storms of Vengeance is and always should be considered an honor. If you at anytime don't feel this way you should reconsider your membership within
SoV and make the desired and needed changes.
What we expect...
We expect to help you when and where we can and expect you to do the same for the guild. Being in this guild means being a part of a family. We do not require that you attend raids
/ guild events though it is encouraged so as to foster the family atmosphere.
We are happy to level and find valuable loot; however, these are not our primary goals. We help each other in the pursuit of better equipment, the completion of quests, or the advancement of skills. But we do not judge our members based on "how good is your kit" nor require that anyone have any particular level of gear to be considered "useful". You must decide for yourself what you want and how best to get it. We are interested in helping each other level or work towards
various writs and quests, *IF* that is what they want to do. We encourage such advancement and guild cooperation, but do not require anyone
to do so.
Members may elect to twink, power-level, or setup guild raids as they see fit, but it is their decision to do so. Do not apply to join this guild with the expectation that people will automatically be required to come power level you up fast, or give you "phat lewtz" to build up your kit. If somebody decides they want to spend some time helping you level to catch up with them, fine. But, don't ask, beg, or pester higher level members to power level you. This is not conducive to your staying in the guild long term. Do not pester people to give you gear that they get which you could not
get on your own. The guild is full of wonderful, generous people who often freely share things they have no use for, or loan them on a long term basis. But neither you nor anyone else in the guild is required to do so. Remember, sometimes your guild mates will need to raise money for something they are working towards, be it a trade skill, a new item, or anything else. They may need to sell something rather than just give it to you.
We encourage our members to develop trade skills both for their own character development and to help strengthen the Norrathian economy. Trade skills can be time consuming, tedious, exhausting exercises to reach
higher levels. Be supportive of your guild mates in their efforts, and help them if
you can. The highest skilled craftsmen will be able to help *you* someday when you may need it.
2. What we are not:
We are not an uberguild.
We are not looking to replace any of the biggest guilds on the server as the "top dogs" in some type of competition.
We are not in a race to be the first to kill the biggest, baddest mobs in each expansion.
We are not elitist snobs, and so we will not look down our noses at you if you are of a lower level than we.
We are not a raiding guild with some requirement for everyone to raid every minute they are online.
We are not in a race to get the absolute best piece of gear for every slot of every member at the expense of all else.
3. What we are:
We are a group of friends who want to enjoy playing the game. If you're not having fun, you don't belong in our guild and you should probably rethink why you are paying for an EQ subscription.
We are people who want the opportunity to play, and to do so in a way that gives us enjoyment. If you want to be working on trade skills, you do it. If you want to do quests, you do them. If you need help with them, you ask. If you want to get in an EXP and loot party to hunt, start or join one with your guild mates.
We are people who help each other within reason, providing it doesn't become a situation where the game is no longer fun for us. We want to play
too. We also want you to remember that for us to all enjoy playing we ask that you keep your rants out of guild chat as much as possible. If you have a issue with the way something is done, come and post it.
Don't take it out in Guild Chat when we have this web site for these issues to be addressed completely and fairly by all. We want to enjoy
Guild Chat not listen to somebody that is on a constant rant and rave session.
We are a group who recognizes that this is a game, and that everyone has their own reasons for being here, their own style of play, their own preferences and agendas, and we respect the rights of the rest of the members to try to enjoy the game in their own fashion.
4. How we are structured:
We current have two Guild Leaders, their names are Kappo and <currently
vacant>.
Regardless of any other rules or policies, if it comes down to it and you force
one of them to make a decision, their word is final. This is not a democracy.
There are also Guild Officers. They each have a responsibility to one area of the running of the guild. (e.g. invites/recruiting, raiding, web site, etc.) The Officers are there to advise the Guild Leaders when asked to regarding any guild related issues, and to provide help to the members with questions and problems.
If you are having a serious problem in the guild over any member or guild related issue, please contact a Guild Officer. A listing of the Officers can be found on our
Guild Roster
